One of Abu Dhabi’s most popular annual food festivals, Taste of Abu Dhabi, hit the capital last weekend at Du Arena, Yas Island. Held from Thursday until Saturday, the 3 day event highlighted some of Abu Dhabi’s best restaurants including Flooka, Hickory’s, Leopold’s of London, Sho Cho and top notch names like Bu!, Roberto’s, Toro Toro, and award winning Tamba.
The festival was perfectly suited for families as I felt the children were enjoying more than the adults, with the extensive and vibrant range of entertainment, from stilt walkers, mermaid dunk a tank, arts & crafts corner, bouncy castle, and energetic live bands like the Maplejacks and 4TheMusic.
The very popular interactive cooking sessions featured celebrity chefs like Richard Sandoval (Toro Toro), Jenny Morris (also known as “The Giggling Gourmet), and Sanjeev Kapoor who demonstrated the preparation of various signature dishes and gave visitors a chance to understand what it means to be a chef.
Now, let’s talk food. From countless options of delectable dining, here were my choices:
- Truffle Risotto from Roberto’s – sensational, my friend and I enjoyed 2 portions!
- Wagyu beef burger from Hickory’s’ – the most comforting burger ever
- Beef skewer from BU! – tenderly cooked yet bursting with exotic flavour
- Coconut shrimp from Tamba – well, you all know I’m a coconut addict so imagine this delight!
- Mini pancakes from Holland House – the #1 reason I go to food festivals actually!
Apart from the mini pancakes, I admit, I wasted absolutely NO time in taking food photos …. sorry, but take my word for it – everything was yummy! This year’s event also featured an Italian Pavilion which was extremely lively with a pizza acrobat, an authentic marching band style troupe, burrata making masterclasses, sorbet making masterclasses …. do I need to continue?
You’ll just have to visit next year! 😉
