While the rest of the world starts its official working day on a Monday, here in the UAE, we start ours earlier, on Sunday! I admit, this one took a while to adjust 7 years ago, but nevertheless, it doesn’t matter what day it is, its all in your mindset. And as its my official working day after a loooooong summer holiday, I felt it appropriate to kick off the new week, and new season with this post.
One of the most difficult things for me to accept, is the sound of my alarm on a Sunday morning … I don’t seem to have any issues with it on any other day however. During my university days my system comprised more of an endless snooze session, followed by a rush and dramatic start to the new week. Nowadays, I find that mentally preparing myself for the new week gracefully, actually made me more productive.
Here are my 5 tips on how to get a positive head start to the new week (as smoothly as possible), the day before:
~ 1. PREPARE YOUR OUTFIT ~
A lot of people like to prepare their work outfits for the entire week – depending on how strong their OCD level is. I usually prepare mine the night before as it helps me to mentally prepare for what kind of Sunday I will have – whether I will have any special event to attend, or lots of meetings scheduled. (Yes, my OCD level is on the higher side…)
~ 2. GIVE YOURSELF THAT MUCH NEEDED TLC ~
I am the biggest fan of pampering and relaxation, so TLC for me on Saturday night means smothering myself in coconut oil – from head to toe.
~ 3. DO SOMETHING RELAXING ~
I love to snuggle on the couch while watching a chick flick, or drifting away with a good book, however a long relaxing bubble bath will definitely melt your troubles away.
~ 4. PREPARE YOUR MEALS ~
If you do take meals to work, this is the right time to get it all sorted out so you don’t have to rush in the middle of the week to the grocery store (and suffer with washing dishes).
~ 5. SET A GOAL ~
Whether you have a professional or personal related goal, mentally prepare yourself for how you will achieve it for the upcoming week. I am a very visual person and have recently starting compiling a vision board which helps to keep me focused on my goals.
