Happy New Year fellow readers! I hope that you have celebrated a fantastic ending to 2015, and welcomed the new year surrounded with loved ones and full of happiness!

Looking back to 1st January 2015, I was surrounded by the love of my family and excited about what the new year would bring……well it turned out to be one hell of a spontaneous / unplanned year. Starting the year with bad news, we experienced the loss of our most beloved and cherished precious dog who has enriched our lives for 15 years. A few months later my parents’ safety was endangered by the violent unrest in Nigeria which left questions of what is going to happen with their security, and resulting in an extended “holiday”. My emotional build up eventually reached it’s boiling point as I took a very big decision to resign from my job and leave Abu Dhabi to return to Serbia for an unknown period of time, until the time was right for me to return. A few months later, my father had to undergo emergency surgery due to a health scare which affected the entire family in immense ways.

Thankfully in life, a divine balance intervenes, and despite the waterfall of hardships, the year has also brought along a lot of blessings. The first is starting this blog which has not only re-inspired my creative side, but also serves as a personal documentary of my beautiful adventures. The greatest blessing of the year was my father’s positive recovery – an experience which brought us closer together as a family and made us realise that we can go through anything together. I also received an incredible job opportunity back in my beloved Abu Dhabi, which I am about to start in a few days – an experience which I believe came at the right time in my life.

I have also logged in a number of exciting travel footprints, while bonding with loved ones including:

  1. A fabulous 4 days in Istanbul celebrating my birthday with my mum.
  2. Being re-united with my bestie Natascha in Abu Dhabi, whom I haven’t seen in 7 years!
  3. Visiting my sweety Jasmin in Berlin and then a few months later, taking an incredible holiday in Montenegro together.
  4. My parents and I toured around Serbia and discovered new places we haven’t visited before, realising how much beauty there is to the country, outside of the capital city.
  5. Spending a week exploring the historical town of Wiesbaden with my parents.

All of these adventures have been documented in my blog, so please feel free to look through … the pictures are worth more than a thousand words!

As a finale, and in true 2015 style, rather than ending the year smoothly with my family as I imagined, my visa took slightly longer to process and I had almost given up hope of spending the time with my family. I can tell you, this was the final straw in our emotional rollercoaster … however, like in a movie, the visa came through yesterday morning and I was on the midnight flight to Abu Dhabi! And can I say, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect ending to the most unpredictable year. While the world celebrated with champagne and fireworks, I welcomed 2016 flying on an altitude of 11,300 meters above Bucharest, surrounded by a million stars and watching the world beneath me.

I have an exciting year to look forward to, and if I have learned anything from last year, it is to see the blessings in each hardship and to believe that everything happens for the right reason. I am determined to make 2016 a bigger, better and much more memorable year – taking in everything I have learned in 2015.

Life is so precious, short, and can change in the blink of an eye so let us all: Live every moment, laugh every day, and love beyond words!
